Many books and articles have been written on the value of building effective teams. Many experts charge thousands of dollars to go into organizations and transform toxic company cultures into teams that believe in each other and have each others back.
At YSuperstars we believe that teams are like families or tribes. Playing games go all the way back to our hunter gather days where we existed in closely bonded tribes and communities.
Games are essential to great team building for effective camp staff, and in our opinion they are absolutely necessary part of having effective teams. We also do these games because we want our camp staff to be doing games like this with their own campers on a regular basis to build a sense of team among the different groups.
Camp Activities are the lifeblood of what we do at camp. It is important to remember this when planning out your camp activities . Many of us rely on tried and true staples such as soccer, basketball, and baseball. While there are nothing wrong with these games there are so much more great games out there to choose from.
One of the great things about these games is that they can be incredibly versatile in planning out your camp season. They can be used to plan out an entire camp theme, or they can be used as a single one and done game to spice up an afternoon of camp.
In families you often see that families that are close spend a lot of time having fun together. Often they have a day of the week where all of the kids and the parents get together and have some type of meal together and play games together. Games are as our specialty.
One thing is certain though every camp director (or camp staff) should have a host of these games ready in their back pocket to be ready at a moments notice.
