15-minutes Matters
There were many days when I would block ONE full hour for my Quiet/Alone Time. This was going to be the time for myself, a time for reflection. Some days were excellent, some did not happen. At the end of the day, it was inconsistent.
And when the guilt increased as I found myself struggling against time, the less compassion I had for myself, and less responsibility for myself.
What if it doesn’t have to be a struggle? What if you can have an assistant that is going to keep you moving once your time is up. What about taking 15-minutes a day to reflect, to take 2 steps back?
“Hey Siri/Alexa countdown 15 minutes”
What is something you appreciate about yourself today?
What is something that you appreciate about a family member?
What is something you appreciate about your business/career/project?
Reflecting on your appreciation with a pen and paper is absolutely powerful because you can track your gratitude, and shift your focus. In other words, you get to read and see your growth in the ability to find joy in the midst of a storm. Your smartphone has zero judgment in how you spend those 15 minutes.
And it can also inspire you to start conversations with the people who matter the most. These are amazing dinner-time conversations around the table. Yes, that is with you breaking the ice. Remember that the best form of youth development is by us, the adults, leading a life to the full, with the time for what matters the most, and the energy to spend it with our loved ones.
